Concept

Once the dimensions are in front of you, an intruder in a list of energy units is visible without any memorised table.
The stem asks for a unit of energy, not for an SI unit. The calorie and the kilowatt-hour are both non-SI, and both are still perfectly good units of energy, so neither can be eliminated on that ground.
