Parts of a sentence are given below in jumbled order. Arrange the parts in the correct order to form a meaningful sentence. A. So I am not very sure B. I have a driving license C. Of myself reaching home safely D. But no real driving experience

Why

Correct — A. B is the opener: it is a complete clause — I have a driving license — and it carries no linking word tying it to anything earlier.

D begins with but, a contrast word, so it must follow the positive claim it contrasts with: a license but no real driving experience.

A begins with So, which announces a result, so it comes after the facts that produce it. A is also left hanging, because sure demands the preposition of.

C supplies it: of myself reaching home safely. B-D-A-C, option (a).

Why the others are wrong

(b)
BCAD — BCAD hangs C on the license — I have a driving license of myself reaching home safely. The of-phrase belongs to sure, not to license, and D is stranded at the end.
(c)
CABD — CABD opens on a bare preposition phrase, Of myself reaching home safely, which has no adjective in front of it to attach to.
(d)
BDCA — BDCA puts C before A, so the of-phrase lands on experience and the sentence closes on So I am not very sure, leaving sure with nothing to be sure of.

Concept

Part-jumble items are settled by grammar before sense. Find the part that can stand at the front — a complete clause that does not open with a linking word. Here that is B.

Then read the linkers. But in D marks a contrast, so D must follow the claim it contrasts with. So in A marks a consequence, so A must follow the facts it draws on — which is why A cannot open, even though it has a subject and a verb of its own.

Finally, an adjective that demands a preposition drags its phrase behind it: sure of cannot be separated from of myself reaching home safely.

The parts are elliptical on purpose. D has no verb of its own because it borrows have from B, which is why D can only sit next to B.

Key facts

Sure takes the preposition of before a noun or an -ing phrase: sure of reaching home.
But here joins two objects of one verb: I have a license but no experience.
So marks a consequence, so the part it opens must follow the facts it rests on.

Attaching Of myself reaching home safely to license instead of to sure.
Opening with C, a preposition phrase that cannot begin the sentence.
