Correct — A. 'Mero Rukh Mero Santati' — Nepali for 'my tree, my offspring' — ties a birth in Sikkim to a fixed number of saplings planted in the child's name.

Concept

State-government schemes are a standing part of SSC's current affairs, and they are almost always reduced to a single retainable number: a count, an amount or an age limit.

'Mero Rukh Mero Santati' is Sikkim's version. It ties the birth of a child to the planting of trees in that child's name, so the state's tree cover grows with its population rather than against it.

Sikkim is the natural home for a scheme of this kind. It was declared India's first fully organic state in 2016, and it frames much of its policy around environmental targets.

Sikkim's Forest and Environment Department gives the figure as 108 saplings for every newborn child. SSC's key marks 100.
