Why

Correct — D. C P Radhakrishnan took charge as Governor of Jharkhand in February 2023, appointed by President Droupadi Murmu in a batch of Raj Bhavan changes announced that month.

He held the post until July 2024, when he was transferred as Governor of Maharashtra.

The man he replaced is standing right there as option (c), which is what makes the item harder than it looks — Ramesh Bais moved out of Ranchi in that same February round, and the incoming name is option (d).

Why the others are wrong

T Gahlot — T Gahlot does not match this appointment. No Governor of that name was named to Jharkhand in the February 2023 round.

RN Ravi — R N Ravi has been Governor of Tamil Nadu since 2021, and was Governor of Nagaland before that. He has not held the Jharkhand post.

Ramesh Bais — Ramesh Bais was the outgoing Governor of Jharkhand, not the incoming one. He left the office in February 2023 and went to Maharashtra as Governor.

Concept

A Governor is appointed by the President under Article 155 and holds office during the President's pleasure under Article 156, nominally for five years.

Because the tenure runs at pleasure rather than for a fixed term, transfers arrive in batches — one round of warrants moves several Governors at once, which is exactly what happened in February 2023.

Article 153 requires a Governor for each State, and expressly allows the same person to be Governor of two or more States.

Current-affairs appointments age quickly, and SSC dates them precisely. This question fixes February 2023, so a candidate who knows only who holds the office today will answer the wrong question.
