Why

Correct — B. India's women's team played its first international Test cricket at home in 1976, and that match was hosted at Bangalore.

The visiting side was the West Indies.

The other three cities are long-established international grounds, which is exactly what makes them plausible here — but the question fixes a year and asks for the venue of a first, and that venue is option (b).

Why the others are wrong

Mumbai — Mumbai is among India's oldest international cricket centres, which is why it reads well as an answer. The women's Test that opened India's record in 1976 was staged at Bangalore instead.
(c)
Kolkata — Kolkata, with Eden Gardens, is one of the country's busiest international venues. It is not where the 1976 women's Test was hosted.
(d)
New Delhi — New Delhi plays its Tests at the ground long called Feroz Shah Kotla, renamed the Arun Jaitley Stadium in 2019. It was not the venue of that first women's Test.

Concept

Women's cricket in India was run for decades by the Women's Cricket Association of India, separately from the men's game, and the BCCI took it over only in 2006.

That separation is why 1976 counts as a first at all: India's men had been playing home Tests since 1933, when the first was held at Bombay.

Since the takeover, women's internationals have been scheduled inside the BCCI's calendar, and the Women's Premier League began in 2023.

The question dates the event and asks for a place, so it is a venue question and not a result question. Fix the city and the year together, and ignore what you know about later matches at any of these grounds.
