Correct — C. India celebrates Constitution Day on 26 November, option (c).

On 26 November 1949 the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India. The day was declared Constitution Day by a Government of India gazette notification of 19 November 2015.

Keep adoption apart from commencement. The Constitution came into effect on 26 January 1950, and that date is Republic Day.

Why the others are wrong

(a)
15th August — 15 August is Independence Day, marking the end of British rule in 1947. The Constitution was adopted more than two years later, on 26 November 1949.
(b)
2th October — The paper prints 2th October, meaning 2 October — Gandhi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. It has nothing to do with the Constitution.
(d)
26th January — 26 January is Republic Day, the date in 1950 on which the Constitution came into effect. Constitution Day marks the earlier adoption, not the commencement.

Concept

The Constitution has two dates, and this question sets them side by side.

26 November 1949 — the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution. This is Constitution Day, also known as National Law Day.

26 January 1950 — the Constitution came into effect. This is Republic Day, a date chosen because the Indian National Congress had proclaimed Purna Swaraj on 26 January 1930.

The remaining options are Independence Day, 15 August, and Gandhi Jayanti, 2 October.

Option (b) is printed on the response sheet as 2th October, a misprint for 2nd October. It does not affect the answer.
