Correct — C, Pranhita – Mahanadi is the wrongly matched pair. The Pranhita is one of the largest tributaries of the GODAVARI, not the Mahanadi. It is formed by the confluence of the Wardha and the Wainganga (with the Penganga joining the Wardha) and drains a huge part of the Godavari basin before meeting the main river in Telangana. Since the pairing links it to the Mahanadi, option (c) is the pair that is NOT correctly matched — which is exactly what the question asks for.

Why the other options are wrong — (a) Correctly matched, so not the answer. The Manjra (Manjira) is a right-bank tributary of the Godavari flowing through Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana.  (b) Correctly matched, so not the answer. The Hemavati rises in the Western Ghats of Karnataka and is a tributary of the Kaveri (Cauvery).  (d) Correctly matched, so not the answer.
