The old National Highway 3 (the Agra–Mumbai road, locally the 'AB Road') runs through MP via Gwalior–Shivpuri–Guna–Biaora–Sarangpur–Shajapur–Maksi–Dewas–Indore–Mhow–Sendhwa before entering Maharashtra. Sendhwa, Mhow and Sarangpur all lie on this alignment; Shujalpur (in Shajapur district) sits off it, on the Bhopal–Ujjain side, so it is the one town not on NH-3.
