(a)Under the Constitution, the Commission has been vested with adequate powers to regulate the election process of members of Parliament and State Legislatures.
(b)The President appoints the Chief Election Commissioner and the Election Commissioners and their tenure is five years or 60 years of age, whichever is earlier.
(c)The Election Commission of India is an autonomous constitutional body and was established on 25 January 1952 under Article 324 of the Constitution.
(d)It attained the status of a multi-member body with nationwide jurisdiction in 1995.
