Our Story: From Aspirant to Mentor
UnlockIAS was founded by Neil Sir, who secured HCS 2021 Rank #93, with a singular vision: to revolutionize how aspirants approach the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Having navigated the grueling exam process himself — clearing multiple stages of some of India's toughest competitive exams — Neil Sir understood that success isn't just about memorizing facts. It's about thinking strategically under pressure, recognizing patterns that repeat across years, and making confident decisions even when facing unfamiliar questions.
During his own preparation journey spanning several years of intensive study, Neil Sir developed what would become the cornerstone of UnlockIAS — the Sherlocking methodology. Inspired by the deductive reasoning of the great detective, this approach trains aspirants to break down complex MCQs, recognize question-setting patterns used by UPSC, and use systematic elimination to arrive at the correct answer. The method was battle-tested through his own exam attempts and refined through mentoring hundreds of aspirants before being formalized into a structured framework.
