On the basis of ANY ONE of the following passages, answer the questions given below. Mention clearly which passage you have chosen. (5 × 4 = 20)
Passage-1:
“In literature the journey of human life is reflected. Literature itself is the mirror of that journey and progress; it is the outcome of an expanding consciousness. In many senses it also influences the direction and pace of that flow. The interpretation and evaluation of the situations inherent in literature are not confined only to the individual or the collective, their social meaning and impact are quite wide. Literature is born out of man’s urge for self-realisation and service to life. There is a close relationship between language and the development of human consciousness.”
Passage-2:
“Today the condition of cultural humanity is changing. The stream of modernisation is washing away stale memories and a new cultural awareness is influencing man. Man’s sphere is changing. Globalisation has created a strange situation of production in which narrow social interests are spreading. The global future we seek includes a plan for reorganising human society. The foundation of this new age will be the re-establishment of humane relationships. If we wish to save ourselves from the distortions of industrialisation and metropolitanism and to prevent dehumanisation, we shall have to change the very form of industries and, simultaneously, the basis of social relations.”
